Actually, it went quite well . That's pre-production No. 3 testing how well the Tomcat could fly and land in cases of asymmetrical wing sweep. It's now on display at the Cradle of Aviation Museum on Long Island.

Damn. I love new shit, it's like my 60's SF novels coming to life in my lifetime. I also recognize that the so-called "classic rock" is more interesting than more modern stuff. And F-14's are classic rock from my perspective. I dunno if that was the models hanging in my bedroom, Top Gun, or my early 20's meet up with a Navy pilot out of Moffet in a bar where we drank way too much and him telling me stories of turning the plane with wings extended like a kite 90 degrees to the direction of travel to execute a turn on a dime. (There was a slight swoon in there somewhere. Though I never wanted to have his baby.)
